COVID-19 served as a wake-up call for all health professions to prioritize community well-being and preventive measures over treatment-centric approaches. While global health systems are making this transition, it is crucial to recognize the veterinary profession’s potential contribution to science and society by addressing issues such as food security, global health, and climate change.   

Dr. Mo Salman will shed light on recognizing the veterinary profession’s potential contribution to national and global food sustainability; highlighting the need for greater involvement and recognition of veterinary medicine in international platforms; advocating for equal promotion of public services and public health sectors alongside companion animal medicine; encouraging direct engagement with government agencies to further veterinary involvement in policy development; expanding job opportunities for veterinarians, enabling them to better serve the community; and promoting the inclusion of animal production systems knowledge in veterinary accreditation standards to support policy development.
